Mark A. Merlin, DO, EMT-P, FACEP, Expert Witness: Emergency Medicine
Dr. Merlin is the past Chair of the New Jersey Mobile Intensive Care Unit Advisory Board. In addition, he is Vice Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center/Barnabas Health and EMS Fellowship Director. He received training in Internal Medical and Emergency Medicine and is currently an Associate Professor at Rutgers School of Public Health/Rutgers Medical School. He is the recipient of the 2007-2008 physician of the year by the NJ Department of Health and Office of Emergency Medical Services and 2008 Rutgers President Recognition Program. He has authored over 75 peer reviewed manuscripts and abstracts in Emergency Medicine/Acute Care topics.
Dr. Merlin provides support for multiple tactical (SWAT) agencies. Additionally, he was the founder of two EMS/Disaster Medicine fellowships to train emergency medical physicians to be EMS medical directors. All the physicians who have trained as fellows under Dr. Merlin have obtained national positions in EMS. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics of prehospital care, disaster medicine, toxicology, trauma and emergency cardiology.
